Whenever someone outside our community heard MPDCI they asked what it meant. But, responding with Michigan Pulmonary Disease Community, Inc. did little to help. As a result, a clarifying conversation was needed. Obviously, cystic fibrosis would be tied into both pulmonary and disease during the discussion.
With this in mind, board members changed the name in 2008. In order to clarify, the board added the words ‘cystic fibrosis’ and ‘support’ to the name. Immediately, Cystic Fibrosis Support Network of Michigan is clear. The name explains the CFSN charity focus. Ultimately, the name also supports the mission of the CFSN charity.
